Kayla Scholz
Kayla Scholz is a native of Chandler, Arizona and grew up down the street from Basha High School. She started playing softball at age 6 and began playing travel ball when she was 10 for organizations that include the Arizona Firecrackers, Storm, and Hotshots.
She attended
Basha High School from 2014-2018 and was a 4-year Varsity starting catcher. During
her career at Basha, she appeared in 108 games tallying 108 hits and 68 RBIs.
Her career batting average was .387 and she maintained a fielding percentage of
.978. Kayla was a three-time All-City Selection as well as a 2017 6A Premier
All-Region 1st team honoree. In the classroom, she made Honor Roll each
year and earned honorable mention for the Sports 360 Arizona All-Academic
Team.
During her
Junior year at Basha, she committed to play college softball at Lindenwood
University - just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. She attended Lindenwood from
2018-2022 and competed at the NCAA Division II level. Lindenwood has since transitioned
to the Division I level as of June 2022. She graduated in May 2022 with a
degree in Sports Management and a minor in Non-Profit Administration.
Kayla has
since moved home to begin her career working for the Arizona Cardinals Football
Organization, and she also is a volunteer coach at Payne Jr. High. She is beginning her
first season as the Assistant Varsity Coach for Basha Softball in order to give
back to the program that gave so much to her!
